Papa's Split Pea Soup

This is Nancy's dad's recipe for the best split pea soup you'll every taste.

Ingredients:
16 ounces split peas, dry, rinsed and drained
1 Ham hock or Ham bone with some meat on it
2 whole carrots, peeled and quartered
2 sticks celery, cut in large chunks
1 medium onion, halved and quartered
14 ounces tomatoes, canned
3 quarts water

Directions:
Add all ingredients to large stock pot.
Bring to a full boil and simmer for 2 hours.
Remove Ham bones and cut off any remaining meat.
Puree in blender, add salt & pepper to taste.
